5月30日，国际部全体师生在图书馆报告厅召开了本学期的期中表彰大会，会议由一位中国学生代表和一位留学生代表共同主持。

  会议上，学部对开学以来学生学习情况作了全面的总结。首先，学部表彰了在期中考试中取得优异成绩的同学们，并公布了模范奖、全勤奖、进步奖等各奖项的学生名单。随后，学部还为在“雅安地震捐款”中表现突出的班级颁发了“爱心班级奖”，以此勉励学生们的奉献精神。最后，学生代表及教师代表先后上台发表了自己本阶段的收获和感想。

  本次期中表彰大会，不仅是一次总结性会议，更是一次提高学习热情的动员大会，它使学生们看到了自己的成长，找到了生活中的楷模！

Thank you Hannah, Jacky, colleagues:

Students, I have been charged by our International Department Leader with reminding you of our school’s high expectations for you so I thought I might like to talk to you today about really why you’re here.

To become a successful adult, it is not enough to have a great career or job that provides you with money, the power to make decisions, and the ability to free time.

To become a successful adult, it is not enough to have a loving spouse and children, or parents who appreciate your generosity when they are aging and ill.

To become a successful adult, it is not enough to have friends who admire and respect you.

For if you try and are fortunate to gain these, you quickly discover that success in your private life is defined not by what your job, family and friends are able to provide you, but by what you can offer them.

To become a truly successful adult, you need something more than even this.

Beginning your adult life, it will be difficult to see beyond your own private world. But one day you will recognize the community in which you live, an imperfect and ever-changing community that requires everyone’s contribution to maintain.

Each of you in this room is good at something, something that your community needs to grow with changing times. To solve the current problems that affect the community of which you are part, you all need to contribute your talents. 

You discover and develop your own talent through education. But no matter how supportive your parents, how good your school and how committed your leaders and teachers, nothing will happen unless you recognize and fulfill your responsibility – the responsibility each of you has for your own education.

Before you can become responsible for others, you must become responsible for yourself. You must take this opportunity your school provides to put in the hard work necessary to discover and develop your own talent that will, in the end, benefit yourself, your loved ones and your community.

For then, you will become a truly successful adult. That is really why you’re here. Thank you.

国际高中部杨翠老师发言：

On behalf of all the teachers, let me express my deep gratitude for the privilege of addressing this Commendation Assembly. This is a moment of honor for those who have received the awards as well as a moment of inspiration for those who haven’t.

Today, I don’t want to give you a lecture as a teacher, but share my hands-on experience of learning a foreign language as a friend. I started learning English as a 13-year-old girl and hadn’t had any chance to talk with a native speaker until university time. All I had was the teacher and textbook. Things changed a lot when I was in university. There were many foreign teachers so I surely would not miss any chance to communicate, even though I made many mistakes. I think what matters is not the mistakes but that we can understand each other. To err is human. Nevertheless, I still couldn’t afford a computer or smart phone, which are very common today. However, I did own a radio, which cost me only 45, but good enough to pick up some music programs, BBC and VOA. For those two broadcasts, you can begin with special English, if standard speed is too fast for you. They have language programs specially designed for beginners. Then much of my free time was spent in library, reading English magazines and newspapers. All these added up at that time and opened a completely different world for me, what I got was not only the language itself, but also culture and customs and above all their way of thinking. When you are abroad, you will unconsciously become a cultural messenger or an ambassador. So I advise you to be familiar with your own culture and try to understand the other culture. In this way, you will experience less of cultural shock thus your life there will be easier. Of course, English movies and songs are also good access to authentic English. Although I didn’t have much at that time, being simple can let me concentrate on the work I should do. So expose yourself to the excellent learning resources our school provides you and make the best of it.

Secondly, I want to give you a suggestion. Don’t get lost in the digital world. The development of technology provides us with a variety of products, laptop, smart phone, I-pad and so on. They are meant to make our life oldColorful and convenient. Meanwhile, they actually deprive us of the opportunity to improve ourselves. It is a pity to see many of you indulge yourself in computer games and online chatting. Now you are at the best time of your life. I hope you can fulfill your life with more meaningful activities and one day in the future, you will not spend your time regretting what you have done now. A lazy youth, a lousy age. Make each day count!

Thirdly, I want say God gives us the talent to think. Especially for you, you are a student, a professional thinker. You are a professional thinker. And we are here not only to learn knowledge but also explore ideas and figure out what we think. Don’t give up this precious talent and copy others’ homework and cheat in the exam. Be creative and think for yourself.

I am sure everyone wants to be successful and admired by others. So from now on, make a clear plan for yourself and stick to it.

Lastly, I want you to keep in mind the following lines. Dare to dream, dare to compete, dare to care, dare to love. The world is your oyster!

国际英语部王燕老师发言：

尊敬的各位领导、各位老师、亲爱的同学们：

  大家好！

  很高兴能够作为国际部的教师代表在这里发言。在这万物吐绿，和风送暖的五月天里，我们即将迎来属于在座所有同学们的节日------“六一”国际儿童节。首先，请允许我代表国际部所有的老师们，向同学们说一声：“节日快乐！”

  在这一声简单的祝福背后，饱含着每一位老师对同学们深深的爱。今天开不开心，快不快乐？——这是无微不至的关爱。饭有没有好好吃，觉是不是按时睡？——这是牵肠挂肚的慈爱。遇到了什么困境，怎样能够精益求精？——这是充满期望的严爱。每一位老师每天兢兢业业，勤勤恳恳的工作，都是出于心中这份深沉的爱，以及由此而生的沉甸甸的责任感。

  身为一名教师，每当看到同学们努力学习的认真劲儿、乐于助人的热情劲儿，还有那份对友情的珍惜，对生活的热爱，总会被你们的种种美好所感染。看到同学们取得的每一点每一滴的进步，我都感到由衷的欣慰。拔萃是一片成长的热土，也是未来栋梁的摇篮。在这里，我们和同学们一起快乐着，一起成长着。

  深受小朋友们热爱的作家冰心有一首小诗《成功的花》，我想在这里与大家一起分享：成功的花，人们只惊羡她现时的明艳！然而当初她的芽儿，浸透了奋斗的泪泉，洒遍了牺牲的血雨。天道酬勤，不劳无获。我想这是在座的每一位同学都明白的道理。在这里我想向这些辛勤播种，努力耕耘的获奖学生们表示由衷的敬意，你们无疑是今天校园里最亮丽的一道风景线！衷心祝贺你们取得的成绩，同时也为正在努力的同学们加油！

  同学们，期中考试已经结束，一次考试并不是句号，更不是生活的全部。我们还有很长的路要走。我们要从暂时的喜悦中走出来，也从暂时的沮丧中走出来，希望大家能够以更高的热情投入到学习和生活中去，在以后的考试中取得更好的成绩，赢得更大的进步！

尊敬的领导，老师，亲爱的同学们:

  大家下午好。很荣幸能够作为教师代表在这里发言。借此机会，谢谢学校领导的关心，老师们的帮助，同学们的配合。

  经过半个学期的努力，我们每一名学生都有了不同程度的进步。我们高兴的看到：你们能热爱集体，珍爱荣誉。你们品行端正，积极上进。你们学习努力，勇攀高峰。你们独立处事，谦让有礼。今天所受到表彰的，已取得优异成绩的同学也仅仅是我们广大优秀学生的一部分。在此，请允许我代表全体教师，向所有在期中考试中表现优异的同学致以衷心的祝贺。

  同学们的进步，首先离不开学校领导的关心与呵护，为同学们的学习提供了良好的环境。同时，我们也拥有一支优秀的教师团队。正是这样一批优秀教师队伍的精心备课，耐心辅导，默默耕耘，才换来了同学们在期中考试中的成绩与进步。再次，同学们的进步也离不开自身正确的学习态度与方法，离不开自己奋发向上的精神与努力。
